Ogiek Peoples’ Development Program (OPDP) will be holding an Africa Regional workshop in Tanzania focusing on Indigenous Peoples’ (IPs) fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from use of natural resources.

The workshop to be held in Oct. 2-4 in collaboration with International Lands Coalition (ILC) and Ujamaa Community Resource Team (UCRT) will bring together various stakeholders in IPs issues from the African continent.

On focus will be discussions on building capacities of IPs in Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Concepts applicable in pursuing rights to land and natural resources.

This is intended to encourage IPs in Africa to formulate local-based benefit sharing mechanisms for engaging with external actors and internal actors.

OPDP,an indigenous rights non-profit organization, is the leading organization for IP issues in Africa under ILC Africa, which spearheads regional discussions for the umbrella organization-ILC.
