In March,2018 OPDP staff participated in a policy advocacy and influence workshop organized by Uraia Trust.Atleast 30 civil society representatives attended the workshop held in Eldoret in which they were skilled on developing policies and campaigning for their implementation.OPDP was represented by Mr John Samorai,Program Officer and Ms Eunice Ndung’u,Finance and Administration Officer.
“One of the key things about policy advocacy is identifying crucial stakeholders who can become the policy advocates and push for its uptake and implementation. I am glad that was clearly elaborated during the workshop and it is within our working environment,” said Ms Ndung’u.
The participants were further taken through risk management strategies during which they were enlightened on how to develop risk register and matrix, vital to establishing proactive mechanisms to mitigating both internal and external risks.
“It is important to have a risk register because it then helps an organization to identify the possible threats to its operations and come up with appropriate measures to be able to prevent or respond to them effectively,” said Ms Ndung’u.
She thanked Uraia for having considered OPDP as a benefiting organization stating that the workshop enhanced their capacities relevant to executing the organization’s strategic priorities.
Mr John was hopeful that Uraia would soon engage in a fruitful partnership with OPDP.
